Twist Yoga has been training yoga teachers since 2006.
Our Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School offers a 200-hour foundational teacher training and a 300-hour advanced training for teachers ready to deepen their education.
The 200-hour program teaches the foundations of safe, confident instruction through Flame, our 90-minute hot yoga sequence, and Breeze, our 90-minute vinyasa flow sequence. Students study anatomy, teaching methodology, yoga philosophy, ethics, trauma-informed care, lifestyle, practicum and the business of teaching yoga.
The 300-hour advanced training takes the next step. Teachers learn Wave, Bamboo and Stone, advanced anatomy, Energy Anatomy, physical adjustments, props, individualized sequencing, meditation, mantra, philosophy, private instruction and program-based teaching while working personally with Dr. Lisha Antiqua.
Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School • 200-Hour Training • 300-Hour Advanced Training

Twist Yoga develops teachers through five distinct practices. Each teaches you something different about movement, teaching and the needs of the person in front of you.
You begin with structure. Then you learn how to individualize.
Our 90-minute hot yoga sequence. Learn the postures, specific teaching dialogue, verbal corrections, alignment, safety and how to confidently lead the complete class.
Our 90-minute vinyasa flow. Learn the sequence, breath-led movement, transitions, verbal cueing and how to lead a strong, connected flow practice.
Explore movement through fight, flight and freeze patterns, nervous-system awareness, trauma-informed practices, music, mantra and physical and emotional release.
Learn restorative and Yin-informed practice, chakra-focused intentions, meditation, props and individualized sequencing while developing classes for the people you want to serve.
Bring the methods together through advanced asana, props, physical adjustments, advanced adjustments and deeper individualized teaching.
200-HOUR : Flame + Breeze → 300-HOUR : Wave + Bamboo + Stone → 500 HOURS OF ADVANCED YOGA TEACHER EDUCATION
The 200-hour training builds your foundation. The 300-hour training teaches you how to adapt, design and deepen your work as a teacher.
You do not have to become a yoga teacher to practice with us.
Experience Divine in 9 online and move through Flame, Breeze, Wave, Bamboo and Stone during a nine-week personal practice journey.
Or bring Twist Yoga to your yoga studio, school or small group through a live 4-hour embodiment workshop with Dr. Lisha Antiqua.

A nine-week online yoga experience designed to help you explore the five Twist Yoga practices and discover what your body needs.

Invite Dr. Lisha Antiqua to lead an immersive yoga and embodiment experience for your yoga school, studio, retreat or small group.
Workshop themes and continuing-education content can be customized for the group.
There is a difference between knowing how to do yoga and knowing how to guide another person through it.
Twist Yoga's 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training gives you the foundation to step to the front of the room and teach with greater knowledge, preparation and confidence.
You will learn two complete Twist Yoga teaching methods: Flame, our 90-minute hot yoga sequence, and Breeze, our 90-minute vinyasa flow sequence.
But learning a sequence is only the beginning.
You will study anatomy and physiology, teaching methodology, yoga philosophy and ethics, trauma-informed care, lifestyle, nutrition, practicum and the business of teaching yoga. You will practice the methods yourself, learn how to communicate them to others and teach actual classes while receiving feedback on your instruction.
You won't just learn yoga.
You'll practice becoming the teacher.

90-Minute Hot Yoga
Flame gives you a defined sequence and teaching structure so you can develop the skills required to lead a complete hot yoga class.

YOU'LL LEARN:
90-Minute Vinyasa Flow
Breeze develops your ability to lead movement through breath, transitions and connected sequencing.

YOU'LL LEARN:
AND YOU'LL EXPERIENCE MORE THAN TWO STYLES.
Divine in 9 is incorporated into your technique practice, giving you experience with Flame, Breeze, Wave, Bamboo and Stone while your 200-hour teaching focus remains Flame and Breeze.
Becoming a yoga teacher requires more than memorizing poses.
Your training brings together personal practice, anatomy, teaching skills, philosophy, ethics, trauma-informed education, lifestyle and real teaching experience so you can understand both what you are teaching and how to communicate it.
Study and practice Flame and Breeze while experiencing the broader Twist Yoga system through Divine in 9.
Build a practical understanding of the body so your teaching is informed by more than memorized instruction.
Learn how to take what you know and communicate it with clarity, presence, and confidence to another person.
Explore yoga beyond the physical postures and understand the responsibilities that come with becoming a teacher.
Learn to create more choice, awareness and respect for the individual experience of the students you teach.
Teaching becomes real when you actually teach. Students complete supervised teaching practice and receive constructive feedback.

At Twist Yoga, practicum is not just an assignment you complete on paper.
You will practice teaching actual classes while Dr. Lisha observes your instruction live, often through Zoom set up in the room where you are teaching.
She can hear your cues, watch how you lead the class and see how you interact with your students. You receive feedback that helps you strengthen your communication, pacing, instruction and confidence.
This is where everything you have studied begins coming together.
Learn it. • Practice it. • Teach it. • Get feedback. • Teach it better.
Your training is designed to fit into your life while still requiring real study, practice and teaching.
Move through the online curriculum at your own pace, complete your required practice and assignments, connect with Dr. Lisha for support and assessment, and put what you are learning into action through supervised teaching.

Work through instructor-led video lessons, anatomy education, reading, workbooks, PDFs and training materials from wherever you live.
Use led classes and Divine in 9 to complete technique practice while learning Flame, Breeze and the broader Twist Yoga system through your own body.
Complete required reading, assignments, quizzes, anatomy coursework, the Yoga Anatomy Coloring Book and competency testing as you progress.
Teach actual yoga classes during your practicum.
Dr. Lisha observes your teaching live, often through Zoom, and provides feedback on your cueing, pacing, communication and instruction.
Complete your required coursework, documented training hours, practicum and final assessment with Dr. Lisha.
Students have up to 12 months to complete the program.
Some students move through the training quickly, while others use most of the year. The goal is not to finish first. The goal is to develop the knowledge, practice and teaching competency required to complete your training.
Students who plan to register with Yoga Alliance are responsible for accurately tracking and documenting their required training hours. Twist Yoga provides a student hour tracker to make this process clear.

Your first 200 hours give you a foundation.
Advanced training asks different questions:
• What does this student need?
• How can I modify the practice?
• When should I use a prop?
• How do I design a class around an intention, population or individual need?
• How do I work one-on-one instead of only teaching a room?
• And how do I take everything I have learned and begin developing work that is distinctly my own?
Twist Yoga's 300-Hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training is designed for teachers ready to explore those questions.
You will deepen your education through Wave, Bamboo and Stone while studying advanced anatomy, Energy Anatomy, physical adjustments, props, meditation, mantra, mudra, philosophy, nutrition, trauma-informed teaching, individualized class design, private instruction and advanced yoga business.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT MEMORIZING ANOTHER SEQUENCE.It is about developing your ability to observe, think, adapt and teach with greater depth.
Students must have completed a qualifying 200-hour yoga teacher training before entering the 300-hour program. Your 200-hour training does not have to be from Twist Yoga.

Wave explores movement through the body's fight, flight and freeze patterns.
Students work with trauma-informed principles, movement, music, mantra and embodied practices that allow space for expression, awareness and release.
The method may include actions such as running, kicking, strong movement, stillness and freezing as students explore different physical responses.

Bamboo develops your ability to create practices around the person, intention or group you are teaching.
Explore restorative and Yin-informed yoga, chakra-focused intentions, meditation and the intelligent use of bolsters, straps, blocks and other props.
You will work with Dr. Lisha to begin designing classes for specific interests, populations and needs rather than relying only on a predetermined sequence.

Stone brings your previous training together at a more advanced level.
Work with advanced asana, props, bolsters, physical adjustments, advanced adjustments and deeper teacher-student observation.
Unlike the 200-hour training, where the emphasis is on verbal cueing and corrections, the 300-hour program includes education and practice in appropriate physical adjustments.
Flame and Breeze gave you structure.
Wave, Bamboo and Stone ask you to deepen your ability to observe, adapt, design and teach.
You can learn a great deal from a screen.
But advanced teaching also requires observation, conversation, practice, feedback and time working directly with another teacher.
That is why the Twist Yoga 300-Hour Advanced Training combines online education with private mentorship, an immersive in-person experience and supervised practicum.

These are not generic weekly group calls.
You will meet privately with Dr. Lisha throughout your training. Your sessions are scheduled around your training progress and both of your schedules, allowing the mentorship to respond to what you are actually working on.
A required 14-day intensive brings the advanced curriculum out of the online classroom and into real-time practice.
Each training day includes approximately eight hours of education and experience.
This does NOT mean eight hours of asana every day.
The intensive may include:
14 DAYS × 8 TRAINING HOURS = 112 IN-PERSON HOURS
The location is arranged based on the student and training circumstances.
Students may travel to Dr. Lisha, Dr. Lisha may travel to the student, or the intensive may be arranged in another mutually agreed location.
Travel, lodging, meals, transportation, passports, visas, insurance and other travel-related expenses are separate from tuition unless specifically stated otherwise for a particular intensive.

Advanced education still comes back to one essential skill: teaching.
Students complete 12 hours of supervised live practicum.
Dr. Lisha observes you teaching actual classes, either in person or live through Zoom, and provides feedback on your instruction.
This allows you to apply advanced methodology, communication, observation, class design and teaching skills with real students.
Your advanced coursework gives you the knowledge.
Your private mentorship helps you integrate it.
Your intensive lets you experience it.
Your practicum asks you to teach it.
Advanced yoga education asks you to look at the whole person.
Throughout the 300-hour training, you deepen your understanding of the physical body, energetic traditions, philosophy, teaching methodology, individual needs and the professional skills required to create work of your own.
Deepen your understanding of anatomy and movement through advanced study, application and testing.
Note: Required anatomy study includes selected educational materials by Ray Long.
Explore the energetic dimensions traditionally associated with yoga and learn ways to incorporate them appropriately into practice and teaching.
Focus on traditional framework, personal embodiment, and grounded teaching context.
Move beyond teaching the same class to everyone. Work one-on-one with Dr. Lisha to research, develop and refine specialized classes.
Scope: Teaches adaptation, observation, modifications and referral. Does not train teachers to diagnose or treat medical conditions.
Study yoga as more than physical movement. Deepen in philosophical inquiry, ethics, reflection and inner wisdom.
ALL IN Study: A respectful Yoga Sutra & Bible comparison exploring shared themes through reflection and practice.
Explore the relationship between daily choices, nourishment and the sustained life of a dedicated yoga teacher.
Educational lifestyle perspective focused on daily well-being and mindful teacher self-care.
Learn to translate your advanced education into meaningful, sustainable work with real clients and communities.
Includes Yoga Alliance 300-hour considerations and building your distinctive teaching path.

Many yoga teachers learn how to lead a class that already exists.
Advanced training gives you an opportunity to ask a different question: Who do I want to serve, and what kind of yoga experience could I thoughtfully create for them?
You may want to work privately with one person. You may want to create a small restorative group, develop a specialized series around mobility, menopause, or stress support, or build a multi-week experience that combines movement, meditation, philosophy and lifestyle education.
During the 300-hour training, Dr. Lisha works with you to research ideas, identify appropriate resources, think through scope and safety, design the class or program and consider how you could package, price and communicate your work.
YOU'RE NOT JUST LEARNING MORE YOGA.
YOU'RE LEARNING WHAT YOU WANT TO DO WITH IT.
You do not need to start in the same place as everyone else.

Dr. Lisha Antiqua in practice & mentorship space ]
Lisha has been teaching yoga and developing teachers for more than two decades.
Twist Yoga began in 2005, with its teacher-training school following in 2006. What began with teaching students how to confidently lead a yoga class has continued evolving into a comprehensive approach to yoga education that includes the body, mind, nervous system, philosophy, lifestyle and the individual person being taught.
Over the years, Lisha developed the five Twist Yoga methods you experience throughout these trainings: Flame, Breeze, Wave, Bamboo and Stone.
Her work also brings together yoga education, anatomy, meditation, trauma-informed teaching, transpersonal psychology, embodiment, nutrition and more than 20 years of experience teaching, coaching and working with people.
But the goal of teacher training isn't to create another Dr. Lisha.
It is to help you become a more knowledgeable, thoughtful and confident version of the teacher you are here to become.
“I can teach you my sequences. I can teach you what I know about the body, philosophy, teaching and business. But eventually, I want you to know enough to listen, observe and make the practice your own.”
Especially at the advanced level, teacher development becomes personal.
Your interests may be different from another teacher's. The population you want to serve may be different. The classes you want to create may be different.
That is why the 300-hour training includes private mentorship. Lisha can help you explore the questions, resources, teaching ideas and professional direction that matter to your work.
Teacher training is personal.
You study. You practice. You question yourself. You teach. You receive feedback. And somewhere along the way, you begin realizing that you are no longer only the student in the room.
Hear directly from women who have experienced the training and worked with Dr. Lisha.
